Some suggestions

If you are not using ST then just do a custom install and don't install the sametime part.

NSD shouldn't have any impact on your system unless the client crashes or you have configured it to log.

You can just go into your system settings and disable it from automatic to manual. It will only launch then when the client crashes. May make it harder to diagnose issues if you do get a problem.
